KETA Project
Spearville to Knoll to Axtell 345 kV Transmission Line

ITC Great Plains has applied to the Kansas Corporation Commission (KCC) for a siting permit to construct Phase II of the Spearville-Knoll-Axtell line high-voltage electric transmission line (also known as the KETA project). Click here for details.

The Spearville to Knoll to Axtell (SKA) line, also known as the KETA Project, is a 345,000 volt (345kV) transmission line that will improve the reliability and efficiency of the regional grid, make more affordable energy available and serve as a pipeline to export Kansas' abundant natural resource - wind energy.

The line will run about 215 miles from Spearville, Kansas to Axtell, Nebraska, and will be built in three segments:

  • Spearville to the Knoll substation (near Hays) - 89 miles
  • Knoll to the Kansas-Nebraska border - 85 miles
  • Kansas-Nebraska border to Axtell - 41 miles
ITC will build the first two segments from Spearville to the Nebraska border. The Nebraska Public Power District is responsible for building the Nebraska segment.
